Six Key Nutrition & Hydration Tips

Looking out for the nutritional any hydration needs of our residents is extremely important and we are therefore supporting national Nutrition & Hydration Week from 11th - 17th March.


The goal of Nutrition & Hydration Week is to bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care.


Throughout the week we are promoting various tips around nutrition & hydration with the aim of helping raise the profile of such an important element of our health.


We have put together four key tips, which include:


"Aim to drink at least eight glasses of fluids per day."

"A nutritious breakfast is a vital way to start the day."

"Remember your five portions of fruit and veg each day."


"Eating a healthy, balanced diet plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy weight."


"Try to eat low fat and low sugar foods on a regular basis to maintain blood sugar levels."


"Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over a third of the food that you eat."

Registered Manager Julian explained that:

"Nutrition and hydration is extremely important for our residents every day.


We promote good practices in relation to this throughout the care that we provide and every time that we visit a customer it is something that we are aware of.


The six key tips we have put together are simple, but make a big difference to your health when followed."
